Stratigraphy

Phase 8m (stratum 80) are the soil layers just above the first post-Mittani abandonment accumulations of Phase 7v. During the times that they were deposited, the individuals or groups occupied the tell for short periods of time. In other units, J5 for example there are sufficient quantities of Middle Assyrian pottery to suggest a possible small outpost. In this unit we see some MA ceramics but the biggest occupational evidence is a tunnur on a floor that is protected by two perpendicular lines of large stones (a7).

Ceramics and items from these layers are partially analyzed and cataloged. Pottery is from mixed phases. Most items are ubiquitous stone tools and clay artifacts..
