Items with Seal Impressions

There were 21 seal impressions among the 237 clay artifacts excavated in J3. More remarkable was the fact that 11 of these, a14, were from one feature, f252, an accumlation that covered a brick wall, f215 located a few meters west of and at the same elevation as the Late Chalcolithic temple wall, f348. Another unique find was a Mittani seal impression from f76, a floor of the plaza to the south of the temple.

Because there were multiple rollings of several seals, the information made it possible to identify the four seals that made the impressions. We were able to classify them as negatives, although they were not physically recovered.

Stamp seals

Two seals made from clay were recovered. The designs are simple and geometric. Seal q284.1 was the sole item found in an abandonment accumulstion. Seal q386.6, along with a number of other items, was found in a Mittani accumulation above a floor.
