Size and volume of excavations

The excavations in J3 comprised fifteen 5x5m loci, and six odd sized ones (k90, k91, k92, k93, k94, and k110) for a total exposed area of about 400 square meters. (Loci used for typological columns (k100, k101, k102, k104, k105, and k110) were not counted separately from the locci in which they were found. Generally the excavations did not exceed 2 meters below the surface. Earlier excavations under J2 had removed accumulations to a depth of 1 meter in 5 loci. An estimated 700 cubic meters were excavated across J3.
