Introduction

The type of contact “to cut or intrude” is relatively rare in J3, representing about 3% of the totals.

Typically cuts and intrusions occur either as a result of humans digging pits or erosion channels cut by running water. Because this part of the BA temple mound probably served a sacred purpose and was not a venue for residential and commercial activities there are almost no pits. Most intrusions occurred when boulders from higher structures loosened and fell downhill and imbedded in dirt floors softened by rain.

Cuts


     Four cuts were recorded. All were associated with pits. one of which was a6.

Intrude


     Sixteen intrusions were recorded. Many were displaced stones that were imbedded in dirt floors One example is group unorganized granite boulders (one of which is f124 that are imbedded in floor f123 .
