The eastern top of the main staircase

     Excavations of the eastern portion of the Temple Terarce, at the top of the monumental staircase, yielded a picture very different from that that obtains to the west. While to the west (J3) there are no traces of work activities, to the east (J4) we have floors, accumulations and installations that indicate an ongoing use of the Terrace. This suggests that (a) the area is not properly a part of the monumental Terrace, but rather of the service activities presumably connected with the Temple, and that (b) J4 is not part of the Plaza (hence the use of J for the label is not properly correct).
