Periodization

Giorgio Buccellati – January 2008

Horizons are the maximal chronological subdivisions of the Urkesh chronological sequence. They are defined not only stratigraphically, but also on the basis of integrative and comparative evidence (ceramics, glyptics, epigraphy, etc.). A presentation and discussion of the Urkesh horizons will be found in the section on Interpretation in the Urkesh website.
