2006-9-23mL In Q905 I had a meeting in the field with gB in order to discuss and plan the conservation of the walls in the excavation area. We will put iron bars on the top of the walls in J01, J02 and J04 in order to check how many cm the stones of the walls advance each year. The original project consists in using iron bars of more or less 100cm length, with a small hole at 3 cm from one extremity to let the plomb weight pass. These bars must go out from the edge of the wall few cm in order to take the measurement and some of them must have also two small legs to be more stable and to be perpendicular to the walls. In Q922 we start to put the bars in the field with the smith Mohammed. We have fix the first two in the wall f72, in J01, and to make it more stable we have cover them with a bag of earth. Then we have found some problems in placing the others bars because, under few cm of earth, there are stones that make it impossible to fix the bars. So we have change the initial project deciding to put the iron bar inside the bag of earth and make a hole in the bag in order to let the pierced extremity pass through. Then we have adopted this model for the other three bars in J01. The five bars have a different length (between 120 cm and 80cm) and they are placed in an irregular distance one from the other. The third and the fourth bars have another bag of earth on them to make it more stable. The same day we have placed other two bars in J02, in the wall of secondary apron and others two in J04, in the wall that divided J04 from J02. In this case we have directly put the bars inside the bags with the earth and placed in locus. Also in this case the bars have a different length (from 100 cm to 80 cm) and they are placed in an irregular distance one from the other. [Input file: Q923ML.J / Q923ML.-J]
